Topics

The global shortage of software developers has been increasing every year. In 2021, it was 40M skilled workers globally, but by 2030 it's expected to reach more than 85M. Beyond the potential revenue impacts for companies worldwide - an anticipated $8.4 trillion - this creates a massive innovation gap. (Source: The General State of the Global Talent Shortage in 2021)

With such a massive global problem comes a vast opportunity to up-skill to fill this gap. This creates so much potential for software developers around the world. That's why we're thrilled to announce our partnership with GitStart to be able to help more talented people globally connect to life-changing opportunities and excel in international tech careers.

This partnership will help connect developers at different stages of their journey to the skills, training, support, and opportunities needed to tackle this global challenge head-on.

Microverse Prepares Talent for Global Careers

At Microverse, we help global talent change their lives through remote training in order to enter and thrive in the international job market. As we're focused earlier in the developer journey than GitStart, we will be able to identify, train, and provide them with outstanding global developers.

Further, due to our extensive remote training, we can ensure that these developers are ready for the global opportunities GitStart will connect them to. We’ve helped thousands of students, from more than 80 countries, improve their lives through our program at Microverse. Here’s what some of our students had to say:

"I think the most important thing that I learned from here is how to communicate with people of different cultural backgrounds. Because I am also from a very different culture." - Lamia Sristy, Netherlands

"Microverse gives you structure and provides you a definitive path. They teach you the professional standards, like how it's going to be in your real-life job. Apart from that, Microverse also teaches you soft skills, how to interact in interviews, how to behave in a remote environment." - Abhigyan Mahanta, India

"To be successful, I knew I had to develop skills in planning, discipline, and productivity. Microverse provided the structure so I could grow in these areas, which prepared me for working in the software industry." - Alex S, Germany

GitStart Accelerates Global Careers

After intensive, collaborative training at Microverse, developers will get to grow at GitStart through actual coding tasks from production codebases with millions of users.

GitStart is a platform that helps outstanding developers positively impact their families and communities by dramatically accelerating their careers - typically increasing their salaries 3-5x after a few years.

Simply put, GitStart enables anyone to grow by hacking on the world's best codebases. Here's what some of their engineers had to say about GitStart:

"When I started at GitStart, I was very, very junior. It was a steep learning curve. Working with different clients and features required constant learning, but after a year, I was a full stack javascript developer, managing clients and reviewing code." - Julio Piubello, Software Engineer

"In the course of my few months here, I've learned to find solutions on my own before reaching out for help. It has made me less dependent on another person before unblocking myself. I've learned faster this way, that most times, the solution you seek is right in your hand - use it." - Chiamaka Osuji, Software Engineer

"GitStart helped me become not just an excellent software engineer but also to shaped me into a rigorous QA engineer through reviewing others' PRs and making an efficient system for it. At GitStart it's a fun and a challenging atmosphere that keeps me proactive always." - Fred Rwagatenga

Aligned on a Common Mission

This partnership is well-aligned through our similar missions at different stages of the developer experience lifecycle. At both Microverse and GitStart, we are driven by the belief that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not.

Together we are ensuring we can make a more significant impact to change that.

What Microverse and GitStart Partnering Means for Our Communities

GitStart has already successfully hired Microverse students and, through this partnership, will continue to source fantastic, global talent from Microverse. While we send additional talent GitStarts way, we will continue to track their success there, and as both of our teams grow, we will explore further partnership opportunities.

This partnership will enable GitStart to find talented developers worldwide to deliver their projects. At the same time, our students will get a tremendous remote environment, challenging work, and the next stage of career development.

What's Next for Us

This is just the beginning of what GitStart and Microverse can do together, and we look forward to seeing how our partnership, and students' lives, evolve through our work together.
